Our commitment

Birch Run Consulting is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, screen magnification, speech recognition, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technology.

The standard we build to

This site is designed and maintained to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

What that means in practice

  • All text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background; interface boundaries and focus indicators meet or exceed 3:1.
  • Every function works by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element and a skip link at the top of each page.
  • Pages use semantic landmarks and a logical heading order, so assistive technology can navigate by region and heading.
  • Form fields have persistent, programmatically associated labels, and required fields are identified in text as well as visually.
  • Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • The layout reflows to a single column and stays usable at 400% zoom.
  • Motion is reduced automatically for visitors whose systems request it, and the palette adapts for increased contrast and Windows High Contrast mode.
